Description
Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is one of the important lipid, found in the membranes of bacteria. But in mammals, PG accounts for only 12 mol% of phospholipids. This lipid is abundantly present in the lung surfactant. thus pointing to an important role therein.10:0 PG (1,2-didecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1-rac-glycerol)) may be used as a component in the liposomes, labeled with -pyrene-C10-PG. It may also be used in the preparation of small unilamellar vesicle (SUV) liposomes.
