tert-Butyl -bromoisobutyrate was used as an initiator in the atom transfer radical polymerisation (ATRP) of 2-(acetoacetoxy)ethyl methacrylate (AEMA).

tert-Butyl 2-bromo-2-methylpropanoate serves as a robust, bench-stable building block for the synthesis of sterically hindered carboxylic acid derivatives. Its tertiary alkyl bromide functionality enables efficient nucleophilic substitution reactions, facilitating the construction of quaternary carbon centers.
